So I heard on the news yesterday that Taco Bell is being sued because 36% of the substance they are marketing as seasoned beef or seasoned ground beef actually contains meat:yikes: Check out the video:

They are going to lose my business. When I eat beef, I want it to be beef.

I saw a video about this on CNN too last night. That's gross. :puke:
What's astounding is that many people would never have been able to tell the difference anyway with all the salt, fat and grease in there.

Ironically, I was waiting for your SOTU address to start, and was watching new vids in the meantime. When Obama mentioned that their "food is safe to eat...", I recalled this Taco Bell piece...

What's next? I'm waiting to hear that a fast food joint would be adding sawdust to their menu... :headache:

Ewww... I thought their beef always tasted a bit... "powdery" to me. I could never describe it, but it had a bad texture.

There isn't a Taco Bell in the city I live in. Not overly surprised though.

Disgusting. What exactly is in 'filler' anyway?? :puke:

I won't lie, I prefer Taco Bell over most other fast food, (though I don't get it often) - but i have NEVER liked their beef. I probably haven't had it since I was a teenager I do like their steak and chicken stuff though....

I heard this on NPR yesterday and the company filing the lawsuit tested the "filler" (gross) and the other 65% is oats, wheat, etc.

This is what one of the news articles said about the other 65%:

"Attorney Dee Miles said the meat mixture contained just 35 percent beef, with the remaining 65 percent containing water, wheat oats, soy lecithin, maltodrextrin, anti-dusting agent and modified corn starch."

What on earth is an anti-dusting agent?

I have not yet had any problem from eating raw animal products. Most of it has been organic beef & eggs though.

I never have either and I've done raw eggs too. My stomach is steel until you put gluten or dairy in it :p

Only thing I eat raw is sushi/sashimi...I am always worried I will get food poisoning or sick from eating raw or undercooked food. I haven't ever tried raw organic meat though.
