VENUE:

The Lazzara Performance Hall (http://www.unf.edu/fineartscenter/2007-08/facilities/index.html), at the University of North Florida, will once again be our host venue for the 2008 DJC and the first annual Jacksonville IFBB Pro Figure Championships.

Lazzara Performance Hall

The 1300-seat Lazzara Performance Hall, inside the UNF Fine Arts Center, is named for Gasper and Irene Lazzara, prominent civic leaders who donated $1.25 million to the performance hall’s funding.

The fully equipped theatre has hi-tech lighting, sound and acoustics—and is the second largest stage in the area. It is the perfect venue for any type of entertainment including sit down dinners for up to 120 people, lectures, meetings, special events and concerts.

The lobby is equipped with two concession areas, contemporary furnishings, modern lighting accents and an intriguing sculpture installation entitled Aurora. It’s an ideal place for receptions or exhibits and can accommodate 200-300 comfortably for a special evening.

I was going to compete in this show but got sick right at the top of my prep. But I'm still going to watch some of the guys from my gym may be showing again this year. They said last year it was alot smaller but now its a pro/am

We are staying at the Residence Inn. I am so excited that they decided to come down. As stated what the hell else are they doing up here in Canada besides putting their feet in our Mr. turtle pool we have set up in the backyard for the dog. clearly a wise decision to come down.
Not sure what restaurants are around that area but I know we will finds something yummy.

So Cheesecake Factory you can't go wrong with. BUT also in the same shopping center, mall there is a place called MIMI's Cafe...OMG it's AMAZING! Don Pablos Mexican is very good. It's on Southside Blvd. All these places are 10-20 min tops of the venue. Um...If anyone likes fast food there are Sonics all over they have some cool stuff and open LATE. If anybody misses MIMI's Cafe on Saturday night I'd really strongly tell you to go eat breakfast there or lunch on Sunday. Here is a link to the websites.

We are staying at the Residence Inn. I am so excited that they decided to come down. As stated what the hell else are they doing up here in Canada besides putting their feet in our Mr. turtle pool we have set up in the backyard for the dog. clearly a wise decision to come down.

I heard the airport is a good half hour + from the hotel. Does anyone know if they're running any kind of shuttle service or transportation?

cabs will be at least $50...

is the only one i know of... that possibly is cheaper than a cab...

its the only sad thing about our JAX airport... its nearly in Georgia..

Yeah I am from Jax and needless to say it's the largest city land wise so cabs will be a bit pricey :banghead:

Maybe everyone can post when they will be arriving and perhaps if anyone is at the airport around the same time ya'll can wait and get a group together and split the cab costs?? Just brain storming.

If anyting, the ride is pretty cool you'll get to go over the 7th (I believe ) largest suspension bridge. Hope your not scared of heights.

I'll just be at the show working, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone. I'll be at the ALR booth if anyone wants to come say hi :)

:banghead:after much banging of the head! and calllling/gooooogling all morning I found a CHEAPalternative to/from the hotel.
I found a shuttle service that is authorized from the airport to take you DIRECTLY TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT with no stopping etc... ICED BOTTLED WATER AND ALL!
I have to call to make a reservation. It's 57.50 one way for UP TO 4 PEOPLE! THATS $14.38 EACH!!!! HOW CAN YOU BEAT THAT! I have myself and one other person so I am looking for 1-2 more people! and if there is another "4-pack" i believe they fit -12 passengers

There's the Hilton Garden Inn Jacksonville JTB/Deerwood Park which has rooms for $99 a night. It's 5 miles from the site of the event. Don't know if you're looking for anything cheaper.

Weigh ins are never very glamorous. Plus, no sooner than the ladies arrived they were gone as unlike the amateurs they don't have NPC cards to purchase, walkup entry fees etc. In other words, sorry I didn't get more shots, lol. However, I'll be backstage this afternoon and tomorrow where we will try to do something special with a nice set and BB Lucy Wilson as our host asking for introductions, shot outs, etc :O)

The fan turnout for pre-judging was not overwhelming but it was respectable. This show has a huge lineup by recent standards with 29 competitors.

Hey Sioux! Just got back from PJ. WOW, these call outs listed here are wrong....and FYI- Steve W. called the girls out in numerical order only in each callout.

Great show (hardest comp to date IMO) and we are happy for first callout. Krissy is tickled pink! They really mixed the girls up a lot!!! So these pics don't capture the action in correct order. I think the top 6 were really awesome and can be changed around and no one would complain in final placing's.

Hands down Mary is the winner!!! With the way the judging is going this year, they will reward her smaller physique. Jessica's conditioning is near flawless, but again I think she is carrying too much muscle. She could hide this with better posing, but that can be worked on before the Olympia. As a fellow ABB/ON athlete, I'm pullin for Jess, but Mary is probably the winner :)

Hey Troy, with those pics, I agree the order was confusing and I wasn't able to get them in order cause I was just taking pics as the show was going on. Someone behind me kept mentioning that fact to how they were mixing up the numbers on the girls.

I hope Paxson or Kristal take it. I would loved to see some girls who got second call out, in first. For examble Tauti.

In my opinion Lado is just way toooo tiny. Many good things in her physique, definitely, but just needs muscles. Upper body looks so skinny...no arms... and that knee area bothers me.

Paxson - Good. Wish she was just a bit in better condition. Best frames of top girls. Should take this easily in my opinion.

Elisha - Good too. Too soft?

Jane Awad - Although she has improved compared to what she was last year (more balanced), in my opinion she really needs to work on with her delts and upper body. (or is it her posing) Now that shoulderline looks too narrow - well I think it is, and because of that, it looks like more H-frame than X-frame. And in my opinion that is not the best possible thing in physique sports..

I know everyone have own favorite, so do I , but please LOOOOK at these and think what I said, maybe you ll get my ponint ;)

I have to say I think everyone who I think will place in the top 5 is amazing!

They are all are my faves, and this is how I think they'll place.

1. Mary Lado
2. Jessica Paxson
3. Kristal Richardson
4. Jane Awad
5. Krissy Chin

I really think Mary will win it. 2nd-5th really can go either way.

As for other girls, they are all amazing! But I am a big fan of Kristin Gomes, love her physique! And Claire Parmley, whats not to love about her, both personally and physically.

Its hard to tell from pictures sometimes but i think its b/w Lado and Paxton. I think Lado is better proportioned Jessica's upper body overpowers her lower IMO.

Tellin' you, this show was tight! Overall- (hope this is sp right) Tevisy Bercino, Mellisa Pero, Marcy Porter, Kristin G, Andrea Dumon and (Kris Wan Who looked really good!) were all outstanding The great thing was the judges did mix it up, A LOT. A lot of girls got a lot of looks. Best judging I have see in a bit. They took their time and very fair. They did so much changing I think it confused the reporting names in callouts.
