View Full Version : Restaurants At the Hyatt??

Those of you in the ATL area (or have been to the Hyatt there before).. are there any decent restaurants either in the hotel or very close by?

I'm not looking for some sort of pub & grill type place. Something nice, even fancy, with good food. But since it's supposed to be freezing cold there this weekend, I'd rather not have to go too far for a good meal.

Any input appreciated :D

Sorry, I don't know what's in the area . . . HOWEVER, I DO know that there is a Cheesecake Factory somewhere in Atlanta. I will sniff it out :D

The Ritz-Carlton is about a block away, and their Atlanta Grill looks fantastic.

It's all about Gladys Knight's Chicken & Waffles.

It's less than 3 blocks from the hotel and they're open until 3 or 4am on the weekend.

Why would you say that?

Ruth's Chris steakhouse in Vegas is open until 3am and you won't find anyone who'd say it's not a nice restaurant.

There are a lot of places to eat very close to the hotel.... You can walk within a few blocks and there is a lot to offer... Also if you don't already know the Golds gym is right next to the hotel... I will be there this afternoon if anyone has any specific questions about restaurants ect...
It's cold here if you are coming from warm weather... It has been in the 20's at night so be prepared.... The days will be right around 50 for a high....

Don't be fooled by the hours. It is a decent place to eat and it is a nice restaurant. I lived in ATL from 2001-2008 and it is one of the better places to eat. Also you have places on peachtree headed towards buckhead like Benihana, Justin's (P Diddy's place), Houston's (Nice Steak house) and Atlantic Station is just on the other side of I-75/85. The restaurants there are off the Hook! Plenty to eat within 10 minutes of the Hotel Shawty!

Just checkin'...cuz you know brothas will definitely defend our chicken & waffles! ;)

It's actually a really nice place...dress is business casual, but club attire is acceptable.

You're thinking Fire of Brazil, which is also right down the street from the hotel. AWESOME flavors, but as we know, all the flavor in meat comes from fat. :D

For me, the problem is that there aren't enough days for me to try anything new if I keep hitting my old spots. lol

Tre - I love chicken and waffles, but I think I'm gonna forgo more chicken this time lol.

I did some digging around, so for anyone else that interested, here's some of the places I found:

At the Peachtree Center Mall -

Azio Downtown
Popular, upscale, Italian bistro.

Benihana
Entertaining tableside presentations of Japanese cuisine.

Gibney’s Pub
Casual atmosphere featuring our famous chili, burgers, a fully stocked bar, pool, games, TV's and darts.

Hsu’s Gourmet Chinese Restaurant
Specialties such as Peking Duck and Salmon with Ginger Sauce are served in a romantic setting.

Mama Ninfa’s
Fresh authentic Mexican cuisine just like Mama Ninfa Laurenzo makes.

Agatha's A Taste of Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre
Interactive dinner theatre. Call for reservations.

Metro Cafe' Diner
24-hour diner serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.

And of course the typical food court.

And just mapping for restaurants, these are all listed within a block of the Hyatt -

Morton's Steakhouse
Corner Bakery Cafe
Ray's In The City
Willy's Mexicana Grill
Hard Rock Cafe
Sun Dial Restaurant Bar & View
Chick-Fil-A

Hey, do you know of the Sushi restaurant that is facing Centennial park? I stayed at the Omni hotel (I think it was the Omni, it's the hotel connected to CNN) and it was like a 2 minute walk....can't remember the name but they had all types of sushi!

I know the restaurant you are talking about but I haven't been there in like 2 years because they opened up another one in Little 5 points (Midtown area) that we started going to so i don't know if its still there. Knowing the "A" though, its probably still there.

OK, well I'll be in that area on Sunday so I may try to find it...I'm going to hit up the Aquarium....I wasn't to impressed a few years ago, but hopefully it's better. I luv aquariums. They were saying it was the largest Aquarium on the eastcoast I think...but I liked Myrtle Beach's better.

I was going to ask the same question...my husband's b-day is the 23rd and I wanted to take him to out to a nice dinner Friday night after bb prejudging...he's more of a steak guy so I'm going to check out the steakhouses. I'm not looking for a Ruth Chris but something a little more fancy than Outback.

I'd definitely recommend Morton's then (if you're looking to stay close to the Hyatt).

I consider Morton's to be *not quite* Ruth's Cris, but definitely a LOT better than Outback.

i would pass on the aquarium.. i took my honey there and i was not impressed.. there was no penguins.. and like one or maybe 2 whales.. it was a waste of money.. i felt so robbed... i would rather have gone to the world of coca cola and done the tour there more fun.

Are you serious?? I went in Jan. 07. I enjoy aquariums so much I was going to give them the benfit of the doubt. I figured almost 2 years later they would have added to the exhibits!!! I remember saying to myself the 1st time why are they trying to have an aquarium and they are no where near the water! Thanks, I won't waste my money then!!!

Debbie... It's called Fago de Chao..... It's amazing!!! Not cheap though.... It's $50 per person for the food which is all you can eat... Then the booze is separate... So usually it ends up around $100 per person if you have a couple drinks each .... tax, tip ect.... The good thing is that you can take as long as you want....It's really my favorite place in Atlanta.... It's located on Piedmont Rd just off of Peachtree.... From the hotel you would go north on Peachtree all the way to Buckhead (ten minutes) stay on Peachtree which will bend to the right at Roswell rd, then take a right on Piedmont and it's on the left just a block away... If you hit Lenox mall you have gone too far on Peachtree...They have valet parking....

Cheers,

Ned

If and When I get married I want to have the Groom's dinner, the wedding, and the reception at this place!
If I never go to another place to eat again I want it to be Fago de Chao.
I heard that the lunch is cheaper but still same high level of food. But they don't have "lunch" on the weekend. I will have to call and check on that.

The Cheesecake factory is on Peachtree in Buckhead... You go North on Peachtree from the hotel and it will take about ten minutes to get there.... It will be on your left... It will be a couple blocks past the Publix supermarket which is also on your left.... The parking lot is easy to pass so when you see the restaurant it will be on the near side... It's an alley that is not real big....

Hey Kenyatta, another great sushi spot in Atown is MF Sushi. They have by far the best sushi in the city, although it is a little pricey. It's very fresh, and the place itself is very nice. From the hotel head north on peachtree, make a right on ponce de leon. You'll go about 3/4 mile and MF will be on your right. You might want to make reservations, but trust me it's worth it!

Here is the number if you want it: 404-815-8844

Good luck, and enjoy!!!
