Funny, forgot all about that. I never went in that room and I have no idea why it was there, as it's never been there in prior parties. I thought the location was great, the music good, the bars plentiful, the all around vibe good, and a lot if industry types, etc were there I know. I thought the fashion show was kinda fun and different. I really prefer places that have a bunch of small-mid sized rooms to hang out in, then those places/clubs with one huge loud open floor you cant escape the damn music.

If you are looking for a hotel online, don't be put off if nothing seems available near the convention center. If there is a place you have your eye on, give them a call and see what they say.

However this year, it is not as important as it now looks unlikely that I am doing the Arnold. I have made some majordecisions and those decisions have affected my ability to do the Arnold.But hey, that is ok. I am really happy with what I achieved at my last events and the Arnold would of been absolutely amazing to do again but this one, I just cannot do.. when I do an event, I need to be able to do it 100%. I would find it almost impossible to put in 100% into this one, so well - no good attempting mission impossible.

So my mind is now focused on other things and I shall just get on and do what I have to do. Still training hard and I shall work on getting prepared for something else later on the in year, perhaps in the Pro Level..

I shall keep you informed though.

We will be there doing competition tanning! Booked at the Crowne Plaza which is attached to the Nationwide center. Should be convenient for the Amateur competitors. We can also spray for photo shoots! we will be getting in Wed. night.

It amazes me that some of you are getting into the Crowne Plaza, Hyatt, and the Courtyard this close to the event. Usually the hotels within a 1-6 block radius from the convention center are sold out 6-12 months in advance.

I used to broker hotels for industry folks at the Arnold for many years, so I have in-depth expert knowledge on the downtown hotel scene. This is extremely rare to see so many people getting in downtown this close to the event. I wonder if some companies are bailing out due to economic woes, or if Lorimer's office is seeing far fewer competitors registering for the various sports festival events, and is therefore releasing many of the group room blocks downtown??? I'll have to look into what's going on here, as this is quite interesting.

I was thinking about working the Tight Curves Booth for a day, but Matt will be with me (and It would be a nice quality weekend with him, that I dont get very often, so I probably wont work the TTC Booth). I was surprised to get into ANY hotel.... as I just booked yesterday!! The Crowne was the ONLY one that had rooms that I could find. Believe me..... I would have rather had a more economical one, but, I do always like to be where it will be most convenient for the competitors, especially if it should rain!! That way they won't have to go out side with tanning product on their skin,lol!

so 10 weeks out all is looking good and on target again., Most likely be in the middle weights 2009 as i lost a little size last year coming in light weight..

Looking forward to learning all the class competitors for the Arnold and really looking forward to attending this hyped up competition again.

Ideally, the Arnold should always be the FIRST show a prospective competitor attends.

Many people have no idea how many physique competitors go to a local show in a high school auditorium somewhere and think "how lame" and walk away from the contests forever because they think that's all there is to the "sport". Seeing the Arnold or the Olympia as your first event lights that fire in many people and inspires them to rise up thru the levels of competition.

* (note - I'm not dissing local shows, as they ARE quite important, but the difference between a local show and something enormous like the Arnold, in the "WOW factor" for a new or prospective competitor, is quite substantial)

Check to see if they have a shuttle service not just from the airport but also to the venue. If not you will probably want to get a car for the weekend.

Hubby and I are planning to go. I work for Vitamin Shoppe and unfortunately, even though they're a major sponsor of the show, they apparently don't give out free or even discounted tickets to employees who might be going and even the people who work the VS booth the only way they get to see anything is if they take a break to go to the bathroom. :mad: Not trying to down my work place, I love working there, just wish there was a way they could help out a poor part-time employee!

Speaking of which, is ticketmaster the only way to get tickets or can we buy tickets there or somewhere else to avoid paying the ticketmaster fees?

Good idea -- hotel rooms are hard to find when any big event comes to town.

If it's only this many that pull out, then that's not a huge amount, considering that there are around 600 vendors (if I remember correctly).

It would seem only natural that the AC would be affected by the downturn, like every other aspect of the economy. But even at that, it will still be packed to the rafters and we'll still have world-class athletes competing. So while the event may take in, for example, 5% less $$$ than last year, they won't go broke.
