View Full Version : The big and official competition SUIT thread

Many times I have wanted to create an own thread to suits! Now I did it! http://forum.body.se/images/smilies/yahoo.gif Suits are something that are really relevant in competing, actually they are extremely important how your physique look like. But besides that, suits can be so beautiful. I really am a suit freak. http://forum.body.se/images/smilies/laugh.gif Maybe that is some kind of girl-thing.

But anyway.. So in this thread, lets talk about suits! Let this thread be a place for new competitors to ask about suits. Give links to good places to order suits or tell who made your suits. Or do you make suits urself? Post pics of suits you like most, maybe some pics could give you an idea, what kind of suit you want to wear next time. Or post a pic of really bad suit choice without insulting of course..

So lets start! This is one of my favorite suits ever. Becky Clawson had it in 2007 Jr Nationals. Anyone know who have made this?

Pic is from GeneX gallery. (http://tour.ftvideo.com/genex.php)

This will be a great thread!! There are several suits that I like...just got to get some pics!! But for me personally, I like BLING BLING!!! I think it makes you look 10x better w/ all the lights, etc. I think it's all so important to really pay attention to the fit/cut of the suit...b/c just like posing...if your suit is off, it can really lower your placing, regardless of your physique. I think a suit should enhance your strong points and hide things you need to work on...as we all know, it's all about presentation..and the cut of the suit can really effect your overall symmetry and physique.

The worst mistake that I have seen in suit selection is when they get a suit where the strap goes horizontal across the back..(what you would see w/ a regular bikini) I've seen this in custom 1pc. suits alot lately. They will look beautiful from the front then turn around...and I'm like dang it!!! IMO it cuts the back in half and completely destroys the V-taper that competitors works so hard to achieve.

We are spending ALOT... 1400 for both a one pc and a 2 pc....

Luckily Nick bought me mine as my xmas present this past yr...

She is excited to do ours since we are she said she has never done twins before. i think she may do mirror suits (similar but oppoisites) but I dont really know.

You just send her pics, and she handles the rest. I have NO CLUE what colors/ stoning she will do! Shes great tho we are really excited to see how they come out! :)

That is a beautiful suit.

I saw a suit this weekend that stood out. It was a two piece and don't have a clue who made it. It was a deep deep forest green and had soooo much gold bling on it that you hardly saw the background color. It was amazing on stage in the lights.

The two black Princess are my suits she designed for me
http://www.tremblaydesigns.com/one%20piece/X-lagre/One-Large_2.jpghttp://www.tremblaydesigns.com/two%20pieces/Xlarge/X-Large_recadre_Princess_2.jpg

We went over some looks I liked, what I didnt, she filled in the blanks and created this design.

I highly recommend Sylvia if money is not that much of an issue and you want top quality work.

At the two shows I did I had at least 30 people ask where I got my suits. Maybe half being competitors and half from the audience.

Or the question, HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY... lol
answer, alot but they are worth it. :)

This design is next but not sure on color yet, trying to figure it out as well as wait for the money tree in the backyard to re-sprout...

Maggie is a great suit designer, and very reasonably priced!! She's done ALL of my suits for the last couple of years...BB and figure, prejudging and finals. I think the cut on her two piece is unbeatable. And she does a wonderful job on the stoning.

I don't have a ton of pics on this computer, but you can check out alot of her work at maggiefit.com

I know she also did Monica Brant's suits for the Olympia, and Kristy Hawkins suit for the Arnold.

CCswimwear.com made my suits for this year. I've had a great experience with them and their prices are reasonable and they have many designs and work with you on what you want. The plus too is that they work very quickly and do a great job.:D
I've also worked with suitsyouswimwear.com for a couple of years and I also had a great experience with them. So many designers out there, but luckily, not all of them are charging an arm and a leg.

I have also had suits by Vandella Costumes ( i wasnt pleased with it sadly ) The best suit I ever got was actually one I bought from Becky Clawson a gorgeous red 2 piece. Nevere got to wear it though and also bought an AH-MAZING Merry Christine from someone but again never got to wear it so I sold to Sandi Stuart for Fitness Universe

I'm with you BuffBabe on the Vandella suits. I had her make mine last year and didn't like them AT ALL plus.. I got the suits about 2 days before the show. I called and called and she told me that she was busy and that I would get them soon. Soon wasn't soon enough. I'll NEVER use her again. So.. this year I sold them on Diva and purchased two (gently used) ones from Jenn Gates and I'm very pleased! They're really, really pretty. I hope they look as good on me as they did Jenn. 5 week and we'll see.

That's one of the things I always worry about, not getting your suits until the week of or a few days out from a show. Doesn't leave time to any alterations if needed and just ADD stress to everything else. Divasexchange and Lydia Haskell's sites are great and have many gently used suits.

I'm a huge suit freak also! I do the custom decor, and what I've been doing lately is buying blank suits, decoring them to look like 500 dollar suits and selling them for a giant fraction of that cost. Its a fun side job :D I'm not sure WHAT it is about posing suits, but its like the little girlie girl coming out of me... I love this type of glam, its beautiful. I truely think a suit defines the character of the competitor. I think it should sort of bring out part of 'you' when you're in it. If it doesn't, then it may change your stage presence. I love this thread!

Hey iron_angel - funny you posted that pix. I have been eyeing that suit since I saw it as well... trying to find out who made it. Never found out. I love the cut and everything about it is so unique.
I have heard lots of complaints about Vandella and a few girls even got the suits the day of shows, etc. That is horrible, considering the amount of money that we spend on the suits!
I actually got a blank 2pc from CC Fitwear (they were booked for custom suits) and am having Amy, from www.posingwear.com/ (http://www.posingwear.com/) stone it and make me a matching 1pc. Her stonework is beautiful and unique and she is very affordable (and very nice). She drew sketches of a couple designs for me, based on some pictures that I sent her and the colors that I liked. I am excited to see the suits when done!

Its good to see that so many new suit companies are out there for us all to choose from. Just a few years ago it seemed that when you looked on a national stage of 100 competitors they were all in what seemed the same suits from the same designers. I just purchased these two suits from my "now" favorite suit designer - competitive edge. The one piece is a used suit worn by Amy Peters and the two piece was one that she made for me in a rush. She actually had to deliver it to my hotel room the night before the show......Crystal is wonderful to work with.

Her prices are VERY reasonable, beautiful stonework. Do you have any pics of your suit on from behind? That's my biggest concern - I don't like how many designers cut the rear and there are no rear pic on her site.

I've also worked with suitsyouswimwear.com for a couple of years and I also had a great experience with them. So many designers out there, but luckily, not all of them are charging an arm and a leg.

I also got my suits from CC Fitwear and plan to do so again...they are super fast and suits range from basic to bling bling!!

I've bought 2 suits from CC Fitwear and they really do a great job and have fantastic prices. Like NYC and KP said, they are fast, too!

Some beautiful suits here.

Tamee does some good work. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the suit Alyssa wore for Jr. Nats last year!

Yes, but look at your model, Anne! I'm suprised at you. No abs, narrow clavical. There's a joke here somewhere about fake boobs, too.

:rolf: true, stucture disaster with fucked proportions and fat ass! Hope she did not get insulted as she really brought her A-game! Without head though..

Now seriously ...

That is a beautiful suit though :)

Her prices are VERY reasonable, beautiful stonework. Do you have any pics of your suit on from behind? That's my biggest concern - I don't like how many designers cut the rear and there are no rear pic on her site.

What about Renee Paz out of Hawaii? I bought one from Rose Marie Romero, it was very beautiful and so well made but she uses rhinestone chain for the neck part and it is the most uncomfortable thing to wear ever! I had to modify it by sewing fabric underneath the chain so it wouldn't dig into my neck.

All of these suits seem gorgeous, but different from what I've seen on the bikini competitors, are there certain designers/companies that they get their suits from? Are the suit rules the same?

PS JLB001 that suit is super cute and unique, i love it!
