well offseason they are nothing but fat and water and contest time they are half glutes (upper part) and half loose skin from the fat and water from before...I've just been heavy in that area for so long it doesn't rebound at all...thank god for Mary Hobbs and her adhesive spray backstage!

it's way tricky for me right now to try and make glutes grow but not quads...I've been going for sumo squats and no leg presses, SLDL's and other hammie work, and then lunges...and cardio is always something longer and uphill or on the stepmill...

Leg press HIGH and wide (similar to sumo squat of course) ummm bulgarian split squats, lunges, 21's on the hammie curl...

Except I put my back leg on a stability ball (NOT a lil ole bench) and do them in the smith rack or with DB's... just depends how heavy I feel like doing them?!

oh I just always called those one legged lunges...my leg's strong enough for that but I have serious stability issues with the ankles...but like with walking lunges I have to literally tell my butt to work and not my quad...

Thats why I quit doing walking lunges, and now I do them standing against a wall with HEAVY db's and really just think about firing back up through your glutes :)

I'm really good at backwards lunges for some reason...I don't like just forward, stationary lunges b/c one of my kneecaps always feels stressed...which I find odd since I don't feel it in any other form...eh, something mechanical I'm sure...but I flunked biomechanics so I don't know :D

I deal with knee issues myself, but don't feel them ever on the bulgarian split squats, but leg press makes it act up every now and then and so does leg extensions....

gotta love old highschool sports injuries :rolleyes:

Suzanne!! I was going to say the exact same thing. I'd like to drop an inch (or 2 or 3) from my waistline, that way it makes my shoulders and legs look bigger :D
