View Full Version : CLASS A - WHO JUDGED THEM????
KP DIVA

I just looked at all the rankings/pics on MD. For all the classes everything was in order and IMO everyone was scored appropriately from what I could see!! BUT, what was going on in Class A?? It's like there was a different set of judges....I respect all competitors so I'll just say this: comparing the Top 5 in Class A to all the other Top 5 finishers in other classes, it looks like there was a completely different panel of judges!!! What happened??

I was confused too. It didn't seem like they were rewarding the same things. I am not saying anything about myself. I will keep that in, but there were others that certainly belonged higher up in the ranks. Oh well. I got a lot of great feedback from people in the audience, so that made me feel better. I am just enjoying my loads of food for the next two weeks. :puke: haha The it's back to :bench: Just makes me want to work harder. Despite the placings, I know what I have to work on to move forward.

Enjoy the meals the next 2 weeks. I went back to the gym today, cardio week, and it felt good lol. I found a zit on my cheek this morning  from eating "non-diet" foods lol, so that means time to get back to that super clean eating!!

I'm with you Lisa on gettin' back to work and working harder. I think our first order of priority is our health, our physique and getting to be where we want to be. Getting to the goal. Placings...well they are subjective and out of our control. However, we can control what we do in our training regimen, our intake of nutrients, etc. Be the best you can be! Hopefully, the next time they agree and everyone will be happy! ;)

My next show is the USA's in July. I have a lot of work to do, but am willing to train my butt off for it. I am taking another 2 weeks off or so of real training and dieting. I had to, or I will never make it. I think I might deliver this creature in my stomach first. I look about 5 months preggers. :D Jeanette and I just got a great compliment on the MD boards in the No Bull forum from Dave Palumbo about our placings. Such a nice and respected compliment. That put some fire under me. I am plotting my strategy now and obsessing.

Hiiii Tracy! Thanks so much! That certainly means a lot to me coming from a judge -- a whole lot. Finally, I get the nod of a Judge! LOL
Funny story from this morning. I was walking past a dreaded group of construction workers and there was a person passing out flyers for a new gym in the area. Now I'm super tiny right now, and my clothes are falling off me practically. In fact, I can only wear skirts because pants are out of the question unless I want to wear them around my ankles. I have my big gym bag too.
As I take the flyer (b/c here in New York they shove 100 flyers down your throat as you walk the streets), one of the construction works yells out "you don't need a gym honey". I ignored him of course, kept my serious face and kept walking.
I really wish it was summer and I had less clothes so he could see the muscles. How ironic...I've dedicated every ounce of time and energy to working out the last two years. He has no clue I thought.

Oh and absolutely! I LOVE a muscular body, anyday! It's difficult for me as an athlete and a judge to see the direction that figure is heading, but it is what it is. The money is there and what they are doing is wanting to attract more mainstream. UGH!

I thought the same thing, but didn't want to say it. I just don't understand why she didn't correct him when he said "overall figure" . It would have taken 2 secs to say, oh no, "overall in Masters" not open...that's all it would have taken.
That's really unfortunate! Does the NY NPC post score sheets?

Maybe that's why I been noticing that some women are considering going into FBB...from Figure. Who wants to go to the gym and not feel the weights? I don't, that's for sure.
As for construction workers, there is a construction site at every corner near Times Square. I pretend they are not there or else I'll go nuts. LOL!!

I will go against most of the posts here.... From the pictures I cant see anything wrong with these 5 as the top 5. They have all a well balanced physique, good harmony and symmetry.
Must have been a difficult show to judge, where no one of the athletes has everything! And where most of them have a lot of work to do with the posing.

Actually... most of you keep telling of muscles, conditioning.. of course they are imporant things in figure, but I also agree with Mats. Most of you seem to forget, that in good total package need to be also good balance, harmony and symmetry. Yep, muscles are needed and good condition is needed, but also good frames/balance/symmetry/harmony.

Ladies, you can request a scoresheet of your class. You will probably have to get in touch with your NPC chairperson who in return will forward your e-mail to the person in charge of scores. We send our scores out all the time to competitors. They will either e-mail it or snail mail it to you.

I was thinking maybe I should do a whole training regimen composed of just jumping jacks for my next comp. I'll make sure I'm using proper form and hum a favorite tune while doing it to give it the harmony component.

Bro I was there in person and I am not saying it was a travesty or anything but it def was strange the judging. 2nd place had ZERO muscle but more importantly ZERO stage presence. I wouldn't be suprised if it was her 1st show, she looked extremely unconfident and her posing left alot to be desired.
I agree 1st place had good balance, I like a more muscular/hard look though but that's not what the judges were looking for. However! In the top 5 there was one girl that was hard as nails, so it's such a crapshoot. 2nd place zero muscle but another in the top 5 muscular and hard.
I honestly had Jenferfigure in 1st place (not biased either I don't know her from adam). How she was out of the top 5 is crazy. If she was too "hard" then fine... but why place another hard girl in the top 5 that didn't look as good as her??
I've seen ALOT of shows but this judging took the cake for confusing. The funny thing is Class B and C were judged perfectly IMO.

Nick, my sincere thanks for the props. I do appreciate that and it does make me feel so much better to get the feedback I've gotten from SO MANY people. There is no way I can feel bad...perhaps a bit disappointed on how things developed. My spirit is still the same though. I love working out, and I'll always continue to do what I love. I've done it for over ten years, and I'm certainly not going to stop. I don't know if I'll continue Figure...I'll decide after my next comp. Nonetheless, the gym will always be a part of my life. And like I said, it's a work in progress there always room for improvement.
I do agree with everything you've said -- at the risk of sounding like I'm tootin' my own horn -- that is my honest feeling.
I knew in the back of my mind that that show would be reward a softer look. I do agree that some muscle should be a requirement, among other things.
Thanks again for chiming in. :awesome:

Jen, I totally agree. I also had you in top 5. You've improved since last year and no matter what, you have a lot to be proud of.
I'm down to meet at Eva's, but not sure if I can eat - depends what my diet looks like. But, doesn't matter, it's not like I don't already carry all my meals with me lol. They won't notice. They'll be busy looking at all our buff chicks lol. Would we meet on a weekend day, like a Saturday?

I had hoped to be in the 9th or 10th in A and at least 7th or 8th in Masters. Oh well. 7 weeks to get it right for the next show!!
Yes, May 3rd works for me. I have a 12:30pm nail appointment though, so after 1:30pm works. We'll need to take a few pictures to post on the board!! Let's hear from LeiFit, Twins, Jen and Jillian and anyone else in the NYC area!! Sounds fun already!!

Hey Mel I think it's all about coming in at your best each and every time. We can't do more than our best. You know how hard you work, what you go through each day, and you know you're a champion for all the things you do to get to the goal. No one can take that away.
I KNOW YOU'LL ROCK IT at your next show!!! ;)

True. I agree. Plus, with the many years and all the shows I've done, I don't take it personally at all and I don't go into a show with any expectations. I follow the plan laid out for me by my trainer and I do what I need to do to look better each time. In general, in my everyday life, I am VERY happy with the way I look. Like you, I got a lot of feedback from people I knew and people I've never met before. Many had seem me in the past and gave me encouraging and wonderful feedback and saw improvements. That in itself was great!
After some rest, some cheat meals I had last week, I should bounce back and better within the next 7 weeks!! I returned to the weights today and did legs - I know I will feel it tomorrow.
May 3rd, you will deserve to eat anything and everything on the menu. Don't know if you've ever eaten at Eva's but they are more on the healthy side. Google them. It would be great to get together and see everyone again. :D

Then May 3rd around 2pm sounds good. I texted Jillian last night and she said she's down. Just a reminder, Jillian is dieting for June 7th show.... I told her is her choice to either bring her food or to have the grilled chicken and spinach they have.. I'll make sure I bring my cam.. Mel, you have my number... They blocked sc.com from work, so I don't have much time to mingle on the forums.lol.. getting ready for work, hope you all have a great day ladies, it is a beutifull day today in New York & Jersey

Hey girls! I'm back from vacation and sick as a dog  I can barely breathe, my whole head is congested.
May 3rd should be good for me - I don't start dieting til the following week.
My 2 cents on the judging of class A - I totally agree with Nick and Shell - the girl who took 2nd had ZERO muscle and no package to speak of whatsoever. Ahh, politics, gotta love it!

I'll be there today to get some protein powder. I will take pics Mel.. They have changed sooo much. It's bigger now and fancier(than before):D

LOL - I know, just messing with you. yeah, it's nuts driving out here. It might be a nicer, unstressfull ride in if you take a NJ bus into Port Authority and take the train downtown. Save on gas and parking. :)
