Today is your big day! while the shock of finding out that your surgery was much closer than you had origionally planned was hard, i am glad you didnt have to wait through additional days til you can start the healing process. i dont know that there is anything that hasn't already been said. my heart aches for you and your family. what a horrible thing for ya'll to go through, but thank God you wernt stubborn and went in to the doctor when you did...to say you are an inspiration is an understatment. you are more of a hero. the super star courage it took to do everything you have done with the knowledge of the attack going on in your body is incredible...thank you, Sue, for giving US something and someone to belive in. I am hopeing for the 4 day stay as well, but if it takes more thann there must be someone else in that hospital that needs to be touched by your grace. i hope you have a room with a view!! i wonder if the leaves have already changed there....hmmm...looking forward to hearing how it went...and if Rhianna can pull of a half buzz, maybe you can too!!!! SUE's GUNNA RUN THIS TOWN TONIGHT!!!!

Countrymen,

This is Craig, Sue's husband writing on behalf of my little warrior. Now that I've successfully removed the 800 pound gorilla off my back I felt it was necessary to give all of you an update on Sue's current condition. Let me start by saying thank you for all the support we've received. The prayer chains, well wishes, emails, and edible treats(thanks Tuna Breath) have made getting through this trying time that much easier. The positive vibes Sue received made her feel empowered going into her fight and definitely impacted the outcome. Let me just say that working in the Fire Service I realized very quickly the term Brotherhood and its definition. It extends far beyond normal workplace friendships and in fact becomes a family away from family. These are people who are always there for you even in the most trying times. People you can trust and count on without even having to ask. In short you know these people got your back. The support we have received from Siouxcountry and its members is in fact a Brotherhood or some may say Sisterhood, but the definition is the same. I am proud to say that Sue and I are associated with all of you and the common bond we share in lifestyles.

Sue endured 10 hours of surgery on Wednesday, the longest 10 hours of my life, but the "Dream Team" of surgeons successfully removed all of the tumor. The facial nerve Sue was so worried about was undisturbed and is functioning perfectly. Unfortunately hearing in that ear right now is not functioning. On the positive side the auditory nerve was also intact and final prognosis on hearing is still undetermined so we are holding out hope as are the surgeons. Based on what Sue went through Sue was remarkably coherent in recovery although she was enduring extreme pain. She spent the night in ICU and we hope she gets moved to a regular room for further recovery today. Prospects look excellent. I will be giving further updates once she is moved and once she feels up to it I know she will be itching to post on here herself.

Again let me say heartfelt thank yous to God, family, and to you our brothers and sisters of Siouxcountry.

Wishing Sue a speedy recovery!!!

A girl I work with had a brain tumor removed as well and she returned to 100% health. I'm sure it'll be the same for Sue!

Craig, Thank you so much for the update. I am sure this has been a very nerve wrecking few months. I am so happy to hear she did so well in surgery!!! I hope her recovery is quick and she is healthy and home with you soon.

My husband is a firefighter too and we know what you mean about the brotherhood. It is very unique and special. I am glad we have a similar sisterhood here at Siouxcountry.com
