Hi there! I wanted to go on and start a thread about the revival of American Gladiators. The ratings did better than most people expected as NBC didn't waste anytime in ordering a second season for late spring-early summer (I think Beth "Venom" Horn said it would be aired in May). As we speak NBC is looking at tapes and scores from the open calls and see who will be invited to training camps next week, according to Issac Hinds.
Based on who's you've heard from and what you've seen on the web thus far, who do you think will be a good choice for season two? State the name and position. If it's a Gladiator, what would his/her name be?
I'll post my picks sometime this afternoon.
All AG-related info will be posted here as soon as I get info.
Apparently NBC isn't finished with selections yet. In fact...

Thanks sioux. Wonder what their names will be...HMMM...
Anywhos, I think the casting calls are finally over and we'll have our new Gladiators (whoever they may be) and 24 new competitors within the next few days, as training camps are supposed to begin Wednsday. With the Arnold Classic out of the way, this will be the talk of the muscle world for a while, I'm assuming.
Monday, May 12, according to the Variety website and USA Today. It will be a two-hour premeire. The week after that, they will air 90 minute shows instead of 60 minutes from earlier this year.
Is the crew all new? That stinks for the old gladiators.... but I have my fingers crossed for Lindsey Cope, my friend and Figure Rxer who's tried out and is awaiting a call!!!!
Huh?!?! Where did it say that the cast was new? I must have missed that. I don't think it will be completely new as Crush, Siren, Wolf, and Venom are returning. They confirmed it in several interviews. But things can change in an instant these days.
BTW, here's the link to NBC's press release comfirming what I posted her yesterday:

I spent some time with Wauggie on Sunday. While we didn't go into specifics (I was too busy telling her all the problems that need to be fixed if they wanna see a season 3 now that the writers strike is over), it sounded to me as though there's going to be just a couple/few replacement gladiators for each gender.
I agree Cope would be terrific (as would you, alli) - they need some MUSCLE on that show!

Thanks Joe! I would LOVE to do Gladiators.... you're not the first one to recommend it to me lol. But I feel that since this year is my first year at the national stage I want to focus my energy there and on making a good impression my first year out. Competing is still first in my life- TV exposure later hehe. Although I want to do that joust!!!! And the Hang Tough- MY event!!!
Taping begins just a little over a month from now: Tuesday April 8 @ 5 PM in a new arena: The LA Sports Arena, which from what I've been told is HUGE!!! This is also on the NBC page, so it's legit. Just thought I'd pass this info along to those interested in attending a taping!
