Did woman place near last as a result of poor posing?
There's so much info on posing out there, I just don't see how this can happened in 2012. Even at the show, you would at least see your posing is way off, and try to correct it. IMO she would not have placed 15th in her class of 17 if she posed correctly. Posing matters, and should be taken serious.

At our shows, our head judge will say to competitors who pose like that "relax your arms". He is awesome.
Too bad!! You're right. Its not hard to see pics and copy what others do. Maybe she was nervous. Hope she isnt too embarassed after seeing the pics

How sad to come so far and obviously work so hard only to let poor posing mess you up.

You have to wonder what in the World she was thinking. Looking at some of the competitors who placed ahead of her, you can tell it was her posing that resulted in her placing. Here she is posing by herself, the second photo is a woman who placed ahead of her.

Yeah i see this phenomenon in both novice shows and national shows.
A novice show can be somewhat understandable. It's hard to NAIL everything the very first time, especially for newer girls who may not have had any coaching or help with posing (and it happens, as sometimes it comes down to a $ thing). Some girls just have more of a natural knack for it that others.
However, an upper level show, i'm always a little confused that a more seasoned competitor didn't pick up these glaring differences along the way, especially when you see your competition pics and decide objectively what you would like to improve upon.
What i suspect happens is----be it practice, experience, or just skill---some girls have a less developed ability to work with the anxiety, nerves, pressure, etc that arises specifically in a performance setting. It's easy to fall into an old habit (or even have something oddball pop up) in this circumstance. For example (i noticed this especially when i was learning), what "feels" like the pose isn't always what the pose actually is LOL! That's when it takes practice in front of a mirror (and then without the mirror to know how to make the pose without a visual reference). When you are overcome with nerves/anxiety/whatever in a performance and don't have the skill to channel that energy, crazy stuff can happen ;-P

different org
Perhaps she came from a different organization. If you look at some NANBF photos and videos they all do that side pose.

What a shame! She has an amazing body! Hopefully she will learn from the pics. Nerves can make you do crazy things, too. I know to keep my hands loose, but in all my pics I have "Barbie" hands - with my fingers glued tight and my thumb sticking out.

She competed in the NPC last year and did well. Placing 2nd in her class at the Washington Ironman.

A learning opportunity for sure! Maybe a reflection of always using a mirror to pose and a lack of awareness between how the pose 'feels' and how it actually looks when you're not seeing yourself! The positive is that she can fix a problem like that relatively easily and make a huge jump in her placing!

What's with the zebra background? you'd think that would be distracting from really seeing the physiques

huh. well that's even more strange then. She looks great in this picture!!!
Not gonna lie, i saw some strange figure posing at the Pensacola show that drove me nuts! Like girls bent over at a 45 deg angle in their side pose from the top up...i was like...huh? It showed me what poses i DON'T wanna do up there tho!

She actually has a really decent physique and it looks like she worked hard. It is her posing, I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it...
I also hope she sticks with the sport and hires a posing coach.

My guess is she probably was trying something new and she got nervous.
That happened to me at my first National show. My back pose was jacked up because I got nervous... it didn't help that the platform we had to stand on was un-even. There were a lot of wobbly competitors at that show!
But I had never f-ed up my back pose as bad as I did that show... it was all a case of the nerves getting to me.
It's too bad.

Wow. Yeah that is too bad - she obviously worked hard on that conditioning.
At our shows a judge often says "hands to your sides, please" if someone is Riding the invisible Harley. I see a lot of male Bodybuilders do it too, in their relaxed pose LOL

Very much so. Watchings mens pyhsique was giving me a head ache. Hard to really see the guys because they looked like they had blurred edges. Quite a few people at the show were saying this

Looks like she was getting help from a BB. Front and rear pose - trying to mess with her arms to get her lats out. The side pose might not look normal for NPC, but it's not very far off what I've seen a lot in some other orgs (NANBF/OCB/INBF).
