Garcia Back On Stage
By Terry Goodlad
After suffering a devastating injury while preparing to defend her title at the 2008 Fitness Olympia, Adela Garcia underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL. Garcia was not expected to return to the stage until late 2009 or perhaps early 2010 but watching the Olympia from the sidelines last year was far too much for the hot blooded Latina Superstar. Garcia decided to get in shape and apply for the Arnold Classic, this time as a Figure competitor. "I want to get myself back on stage and by getting ready for the Arnold Figure I can get my body back in shape. My knee is doing very well but I am just not ready for fitness yet."

Bios of the women are starting to be posted on the Arnold Classic website.
Julie Palmer............

Julie set her sights on placing in the top 3 in Columbus, Ohio at the 2008 Fitness International months in advance. She even went so far as to have her own customized tennis shoes created emboldened with a large “3”. Guess what?
Julie Palmer not only took 3rd …she grabbed center stage with one of the weekend’s most inspired performances while she sent out a big thank you her partner and trainer, Mike “Beefcake” Davies. Julie quickly announced “She’ll Be Back” in 2009.

My first post here and I want to start off by saying this truly is a fantastic forum... thanks Sioux!! -
This was posted by IFBB Pro Larissa Reis yesterday and is a legitimate argument and deserves much consideration imho-
"Friday, January 09, 2009
Why wasn't I invited to the Arnold Classic???
Recently I found out that I won’t be competing in the Arnold Classic this year. I was so excited to get ready to train and prepare for the Arnold Classic but I wasn't invited. I never received any information or reasons why I wasn’t invited, so I’m not sure what to think.
I'm not sure about the rules on how to get invited to the Arnold... It's an international show and I wonder why there aren't more girls invited from other countries. 90% of the girls who compete are Americans.
Can someone help and explain this to me? I honestly would just like to understand the rules.
I will still be at the Arnold Classic, even if I'm not competing. I have received a lot of emails from people asking me about the Arnold Classic, so I am posting this blog to let everyone know about my situation.
I wanted to be able to share with everyone the reason that I won't be competing.
If someone can tell me how the rules work more clearly, I would really appreciate it.
Xoxo
Larissa"
Here is a graph comparing American to International Figure competitors over the past 5 years (except last year) at the International Arnold Classic ... I would say Larissa has a legitimate complaint.
Have a great day, O'B (james)

Welcome James!
I don't see any graph.
Only 19 women were invited to compete at the Ms Figure International. Nearly all the women invited won shows or have placed very high in contests. Larissa's highest placing was 10th.
The odds are not good for someone who has not won a show or placed very high to get invited.

Latisha has also worked hard to get her physique to where the judges want. She's another great role model involved in other fitness outlets like yoga & Jen's Phat Camps. She also keeps herself in great condition all year round. Best wishes to the two Fitness Factory ladies!

Thanks Sioux-
Sorry, I see your point about Larissa but the fact remains very few international competitors are invited. Here is a link to the graph since I'm not quite sure how to post photos directly on the page here ;-).
ps- could you send me a pm with instructions to post large photos directly on the page. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the updates, Sioux!
It's taken a lot of time to get this together (still working on it bit by bit), but I constructed a special page dedicated to the Arnold.
http://www.fitgemsnation.net/page/arnold-classic-2009
The Arnold Amateur will be on there as soon as I can get the stuff together.
