changes of 2yr national qual. to 1 yr..

i know that now if you win a national qualifying show you will be qualified for 1 yr... what happens if my show was in Aug but nationals doesnt happen until nov? does that mean i need to requalify or im good throughout the 2009 yr? my show was aug 08. i want to do USA'S this summer but summer school may prevent that

My understanding is if you qualified in 08 you are good through 09.

SUBJECT : 2009 RULE CHANGES AND BIKINI DIVISION GUIDELINES

At our November 20, 2008 meeting in Atlanta, Georgia the following rules/changes were mandated:

A new division – NPC Bikini – was implemented. (See attached guidelines and rules)

New Rules for National Contests:
An athlete may qualify in any division – bodybuilding, fitness, figure and in 2009 bikini however when they enter a national contest they must select one division as a competitor. IF they qualify in more than one division they must select only one division – no crossovers

For all other contests, crossovers are permitted at the discretion of the promoter with the District Chairpersons approval.

If a competitor qualifies as a Masters competition, they are limited to compete in the masters divisions only.

Beginning in 2008, eligibility is reduced to one year for National contests with the exception of the Nationals and USA Championships that have two (2) years of eligibility.

Eligibility for athletes that qualified in 2007 will be grandfathered under the previous eligibility.

The overall second place in women’s bodybuilding at the USA Championships will receive her pro card – the same as the men at this contest.

Fitness is reduced to two (2) rounds. Each round is scored at 50% of the final score
Two piece suit. And,
routine round
Figure is reduced to one (1) round

Two piece suit
The NPC registration fee for 2009 is $85.00

thanks ... what happens when you didnt do a local show this yr bc you did a national event ... are you still qualified to compete nationally again or you have to requalify

If you placed in the top 5 at a National show in 08, I assume you are qualified to compete again Nationally in 09.

If ever in doubt always contact the NPC...........

it is remainder of year you qualify plus a full calendar year

it used to be the remainder of the year you qualified plus 2 full calendar years

if I did a show in March and qualified to do a national, I have until December 2010 to compete..correct?

yes....that sounds right! It's just confusing...I just wish they'd say 1 year from the time you qualified!!! I'm re-reading what I posted and it's saying 1 yr. except w/ USA and Nats..so now I'm wondering does that mean if you place in Top 5 at those 2 shows you have 2yrs. instead of 1y? I'll be sure to email the promoter this year b4 I send funds to any show! My ex-trainer told me he knows of a few guys who placed well at National shows....then a few months later they were stripped b/c they weren't actually qual'd to do that show..I'd hate for that to happen to anyone here.
